Now add one part defensive back Niko Mermigas, one part GoPro and one part mat drills (click here for an explanation of what those are) and here's what has been going on in the most recent run up to spring practice:

Alas, spring practice isn't just about what you see on the field. While there will be on-field sessions today, Thursday and Saturday, lifting took place at 6 and 7 a.m. yesterday and will take place at the same time tomorrow.
In addition to lift, on Monday and Wednesday there also are team meetings at 4 p.m. and position work at 4:15 p.m. (although no full practice).
While practices don't start until 5 p.m. today and Thursday (and 10 a.m. Saturday) there are special teams meetings at 4 and positional meetings at 4:30 on Tuesday and Thursday and special teams at 8:45 a.m. and unit/positional meetings at 9:15 a.m. Saturday before the team hits the field.
Got all that?
Oh, and one more thing. The players still have classes ;-)

In case you were wondering, it was a brisk 19 degrees when I took the dog out this a.m. but should be 50 degrees and sunny on Memorial Field when the spring session officially begins.

A history lesson for the newbies. Until freshmen became eligible for Ivy League football prior to the 1993 season spring practice was limited to one day. It was often described as little more than a day to get fitted for next year's uniform ;-)Ivy League teams are now allowed 12 spring practices, including their spring "game." Patriot League and other FCS and FBS schools are allowed 15.

If you've been out of touch you may have missed a few notes about BGA Premium website issues after 14 years of smooth sailing. In short, since the middle of March keeping the site up has become a game of whack-a-mole. The site goes down, I change one word, any word, republish and the site goes back up – until it goes back down again sometime in the next 24 hours. I change a word and it goes back up. You get the idea.Frankly, I'm getting tired of the game. I've spoken with a professional website designer and if the price is right I'm going to punt the current site and get it designed properly.
In the meantime, I'm shifting BGA Premium to the backup site I pulled together late last fall when the very first issues began. Find that site HERE and be sure to bookmark it. The password is Premium. (And capitalization counts.)
Thanks for your patience.
