STATS has a list of dates for upcoming virtual media days around the country. Every FCS conference in the country has set its virtual media day date except one. Wanna guess? The Ohio Valley Conference will kick things off on July 20 and the CAA will follow a day later. Of local interest the Northeast will be on July 23 and the Patriot League on July 30.
The Ivy League is MIA.
Green Alert Take: The question is whether the Ivy is holding back on picking a date because it’s waiting to see if there will be football this fall or whether it’s simply a reflection, like the Ivy League football media guide that was not updated last year, about how little regard the league has for the sport.

From ESPN (LINK):The University of Texas announced Thursday that 13 football players have confirmed positive coronavirus test results or are presumed positive.
All 13 players are now self-isolating, and 10 more players identified through contact tracing are in self-quarantine but asymptomatic at this time, according to a statement from the university.

From a story on North Dakota Bison Media Zone (LINK):Like all position groups, the quarterbacks meet on a daily basis during the season although head coach Matt Entz foresees a meeting room big enough where all can practice proper social distancing guidelines and still see a screen.Green Alert Take: The "teaser" for that story reads this way – "Bison football to formulate social distance plan to keep quarterbacks safe." Sorry, but if it becomes a next-man-up situation because quarterbacks are being sidelined by COVID-19 you might as well start DVR-ing movies because you won't be watching college football this fall.

EXTRA POINTBe careful what you wish for. You may get it.
In this space some time ago I wrote about how I wished there was grass that reached a certain height and then topped off. Well, that's kind of happening right now because of drought. In sunny areas the lawn I wish wouldn't grow so much is going brown as fast as some people are going gray in the pandemic.
From an article on the website of Manchester, NH TV station WMUR:
" 'New Hampshire is approaching a stage of drought because rainfall over the last two months is about 60 percent of normal, and New Hampshire had a significantly less-than-average snowpack this past winter. Consequently, stream flows throughout the state are very low and if these weather trends continue, groundwater levels and water supply wells throughout the state will soon begin to be adversely impacted,' Thomas O’Donovan, director of the NHDES Water Division, said."But don't worry. I'll probably be complaining about too much rain and having to mow again before long. At least I hope so . . .
