That's That

Any thought that Dartmouth corner DJ Avery's trip to the transfer portal would be derailed by the pandemic and he'd play his medical redshirt season for the Big Green as originally planned – whenever that happens – has disappeared per his twitter:

Harvard running back Devin Darrington is graduating this spring and will use his final year of eligibility as a grad transfer at Virginia. (LINK)
With today being the start of what would have been game week for Ivy League teams, Jake Novak of the Roar Lions blog explains why his site went quiet for almost five months. (LINK)
This is high school highlight is kind of hard to see at the start but it's worth sticking around for. Trailing by two points with 2.9 seconds left and the ball at its own 41, Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa used nine laterals and a fumble recovery to defeat Wetumpka, 34-28. Hillcrest practices the play every week, and until things got really crazy at the end it showed.

EXTRA POINT
For those of you keeping score, the '84 VW camper van passed exactly one vehicle on the climb over 10,600-foot Vail Pass yesterday in our trip from Gunnison, Colo., to Dillon, Colo. We had our flashers on as we pulled out of the slow lane (slowly) to pass a semi filled with shot puts. (OK, I'm not sure what it was hauling, but it had to be heavy because it was going really, really s-l-o-w.)

We had a terrific dinner with my sister yesterday at her place overlooking Lake Dillon and will do a little exploring today. The trek home begins tomorrow morning. We are still trying to decide the best time to set out to avoid Denver traffic and heading west-to-east have to be careful about driving into the blinding sun in the early morning. Stay tuned.
