Another Month

Welcome to October. (I'd say Happy October but is anyone really happy these days?)

As you should know by now the Dartmouth campus is, as much as they can make it, a bubble without walls. That being the case, those of us who usually are around the athletic facilities at this time of year aren't just actively discouraged from being on campus, but are prohibited from being on campus. And so BGA Premium is on hold, more than likely at least until spring.

BGA Daily, of course, is continuing from afar. (That would be from Vermont, which isn't very "afar").

To that end, I hope to pull together a popular BGA Premium feature and post a Q&A with Coach Buddy Teevens on this site, perhaps as early as next week. If you have questions you'd like me to ask of Coach Teevens, email them to BGA by CLICKING HERE. That will address an email with the subject line, QuestionsForCoach.

In the meantime, the members of the team on campus this fall (I believe that's a little more than half of the roster) have begun skeleton practice/drills. Here's a selection of photos forwarded to me (thanks!) from a session held in The WoodShed (or The GreenHouse if you prefer) Dartmouth's new indoor practice facility:

Dartmouth always has players who were teammates of a few you see on network TV either on Saturdays or Sundays. But former Dartmouth receiver Hunter Hagdorn takes that to a new level. The two-time All-Ivy League selection, who graduated last spring, caught passes from both this year's starting quarterback for the Miami Hurricanes and this year's starting quarterback of the Florida Gators while at Manvel High School in Texas.

From a story in the Washington Post (LINK) about Florida quarterback Kyle Trask, a player some are calling this year's Joe Burrow:

““Kyle’s been throwing to Division I receivers since he was a sophomore in high school,” and here he reels off former Mavericks Reggie Hemphill-Mapps, who played at Texas; Keylon Stokes of Tulsa; Sean Dykes of Memphis; Hunter Hagdorn of Dartmouth.”

Trask was actually the Manvel backup behind D’Eriq King, who transferred this year from Houston to Miami. Trask bio   King bio   Hagdorn bio

EXTRA POINT

Our '84 VW poptop camper needs to be inspected later this month and while it passed with flying colors a year ago, I'm a little concerned this time around.

When we left That Certain Dartmouth '14's house in Colorado a few weeks back at O-Dark-30 our headlights seemed to be failing miserably. Struggling to see, I turned on the high beams and was careful to turn them down each time someone was heading out way.

Until one time I forgot.

Surprise, the oncoming vehicle didn't blink at us. The next time there was an approaching car I intentionally left the highs on. Same deal.

Right up until daybreak I left the highs on and no one blinked their lights at us.

Maybe I'm wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion our lights aren't going to pass muster.
