Green Green

Tweeting his intention to join the Dartmouth football program is 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker Micah Green of North Central High School in Indianapolis. (LINK)

A member of his all-county and all-conference teams, Green reports 17 offers, a list highlighted by Brown, Columbia, Penn, Colgate, Air Force, Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois. Per MaxPreps he had 90 tackles this year, including 54 solos, and three sacks. He helped North Central go 6-4.

Check out his highlights:

EXTRA POINT
Today is the shortest day of the year. There will be just 8 hours, 52 minutes and 54 seconds of daylight in our little corner of Vermont. Sunset here is at 4:13:41.

The good news? Tomorrow will be a whopping two seconds longer!

In recognition of the Winter Solstice, I thought you could use a little taste of spring so I grabbed my camera and shot a picture this morning of the "Cascading Petunia" I planted in our ancient AeroGarden on Nov. 1. Judging by the number of buds, it should be overflowing with flowers in a few days, but given that winter starts today, this somehow seems fitting.

PS: If you are looking for a last-minute Christmas gift, a hydrophonic garden setup of some sort might be a good idea. Trust me, you don't need a green thumb. Just slide the seed pods into the planter, add water and a little plant food every couple of weeks, and you are good to go.
