Signing Day 2.0

It's National Signing Day (Lite) and the Indianapolis Star has a story about Dartmouth-bound twins Josiah and Micah Green HERE

While the addition of the December signing period has diminished today's importance and the pandemic may have an impact, some (many?) high school seniors will be celebrating their college decision today. As has been the case each year, throughout the day BGA Daily will post photos found on Twitter as well as those kindly forwarded here. And if the celebration was in December? If you send them along those photos will to up today as well.

To send along picture(s) – which, by the way, is absolutely OK with the NCAA –  CLICK HERE to address an email to BGA with the subject line, SigningDay. Then just attach the shot. Thanks for your help!

Remember to keep checking back during the day as the site will be updated as new photos come in!

Here's what we think we know of the class to date thanks to Twitter and news reports. There should be 3-4-5 more names to add today or at some point.

Former Dartmouth defensive back Matt Burke '98, is a billed as a defensive coordinator candidate for the Minnesota Vikings in a FanNation story HERE.
From a story in The Dartmouth (LINK):
The College plans to hold an in-person Commencement for the Class of 2021 in early June, although only graduates will be invited to attend. An in-person commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020, previously rescheduled for this June, has been postponed indefinitely.

And . . .

(The) College has encouraged guests of graduating students to cancel any existing travel arrangements to the Upper Valley.

And finally . . .

In addition to the cancellation of this year’s ceremony for the Class of 2020, all 2021 alumni reunion events will be held virtually. Hanlon wrote that the College will seek “creative ways” to “maintain the special connection” between the 50th reunion class and the Class of 2021 as part of this year’s ceremony.

EXTRA POINT
I was about a mile from the end of my snow-filled hike on the mountain yesterday when I paused the Fresh Air podcast after I thought I heard a snowmobile coming up the trail toward me. With the earphones out, though, I realized it wasn't a snowmobile but rather a chainsaw.

A minute or two later I found two enormous tree trunks blocking the trail I've hiked almost daily since mid-September. Stomping through deep snow to get around the trees I made it back to the trail in time to see yet another tree on the hill to my left crack and fall to the ground.

What I eventually learned is that selective logging on that side of the mountain will shut down the trails I hike for the next few weeks. A sign posted at the trailhead while I was hiking suggested circling around to the other side of the mountain to hike – without noting that the road to that trailhead is not maintained in the winter. Phooey.

It won't matter today while I do my annual Signing Day babysitting of BGA Daily, but I'm hoping to be able to access that other trailhead – or another on nearby Tucker Mountain – because I don't want to lose the pretty significant fitness gains I've made.
