Ivy League plans return to regular athletic competition for fall 2021
In a Tuesday morning statement sent to Yale student-athletes, the eight Ivy League presidents announced their expectation to return to regular athletic competition across all sports in the fall after more than three seasons of canceled games.
From the story:
“We very much look forward to a return to spirited athletics competition and to the Ivy League rivalries that make our conference so special,” the eight presidents wrote in the statement. “Barring unanticipated circumstances, such as a dramatic increase in infection rates from a variant in the virus, we look forward to welcoming our teams back to intercollegiate competition this fall."

Green Alert Take: Fingers crossed that things keep heading in the right direction. The statement doesn't say anything about attendance at sports events but it's hard to argue with those who have commented that the ratio of available seats to paying fans at Ivy League football facilities suggests that social distancing should not be a problem if need be. ;-)

Former Brown football coach Phil Estes, who grew up in Laconia, NH and played at New Hampshire, was honored last night by the Joe Yukica Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame. (LINK)
Yukica, of course, is the former head coach at Dartmouth.
Estes was 115-94 with three Ivy League titles as Brown head coach from 1998-2018.

EXTRA POINT
The delay in today's BGA Daily was because I had a dentist appointment at 7:30 down in Hanover. Sure, that's a little early in the day to have someone poking around in your mouth but frankly, it's something I'd just as soon get over with.
This isn't a perfect parallel but as I explained to the nice woman who set up my next 7:30 a.m. appointment for the fall, "I think of it a little like getting married. I know people who had a 5:30 p.m. ceremony and I can't imagine what they felt like waiting all day."
Two things.
I did tell you the comparison wasn't perfect, right?
And please don't tell Mrs. BGA I said getting married was like going to the dentist . . .
(You won't have to tell her because she'll be reading this.)
