Heading To Philly?

Information from a late-summer Penn release that might be helpful to those headed to Philadelphia for Friday's football game between Dartmouth and the Quakers:

*All spectators in attendance (12 years old and above) must attest to having been vaccinated and to register their contact information in the event of a COVID exposure where follow-up from contact tracers is needed.

*Face coverings are required for all fans at all indoor and outdoor competition venues.

I reached out to Penn yesterday to see if there was an official update (there hasn't been) and learned that there have been several high school games at Franklin Field where fans could scan a QR code at the gate to share information for contact tracing before entry. (I will post more if I learn more.)

A reminder that the game will be carried on ESPNU. It will not be available on ESPN+ or ESPN3.

Princeton is the Athlon FCS team of the week after defeating Stetson, 63-0. The Tigers had opened with a 32-0 win at Lehigh.

From the Athlon story (LINK):

The preseason favorite in the Ivy League has posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1965, pounding Stetson behind quarterback Cole Smith’s five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and seven sacks.

EXTRA POINT
It was a brisk 38 degrees when I headed out this morning for my daily hike and with cooler weather the leaves are starting to turn, although they do seem a little late this year. This map suggests peak foliage in the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire will be Oct. 5-15, and if that's correct the view of Balch Hill from Memorial Field's home stands at next week's Homecoming game with Yale will be glorious.

In case you are wondering, they take this stuff seriously around here. Here's yesterday's update on the visitNH site for the Dartmouth-Lake Sunapee Region (which reports 30 percent color change)

Muted tones of honey, scarlet, and olive continue to gently mask the treetops in this western region, with crisper tones huddling around Lake Sunapee. The stretch of I-89 North heading towards Enfield features sweeping mountain vistas along the drive that are already showing off promising bursts of exciting color. Early maples around Claremont have begun to shine with glowing yellow leaves that catch your eye in an instant! From the peak of Mount Kearsarge, flames of fiery red leaves can be seen across the region, complimented by quieter fall tones beginning to decorate the rest of the canopy.

Green Alert Take: What are the chances the person who writes that spends the rest of the year penning wine descriptions with sentences like, "The wine is burnt garnet in color with a lighter hue at the rim of the glass and hints of purple at the center. On the nose you will get cedar, cranberries, and fresh ground cinnamon and fruit leathers."  ;-)
