Homecoming

From the Dartmouth football office comes a hype video for today's Homecoming game against Yale:

#
Tris Wykes, the former Dartmouth beat writer for the local daily, has a story about Jake Allen, the quarterback who transferred from Florida with hopes of leading the Big Green to the Ivy League championship. With his career ended by injury he's still contributing to the championship race as a student assistant coach. Find the story HERE.
#
Emerging sophomore wide receiver Paxton Scott is the subject of a story in the local daily HERE.
#
Former Dartmouth tailback Caylin Parker '20 is in his second season as a grad transfer at Albany, where he has found himself queued up behind an All-American type running back. From a story in the Times Union (LINK):

(Coach Greg) Gattuso also mentioned the need to use backup running back Caylin Parker, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth, who has yet to touch the ball this season after coming back from an injury.

"One of my biggest disappointments is we couldn't get Caylin into the game last week," said Gattuso, who said poor field position didn't provide the right opportunities to use Parker. "We need to get him out there. He's a good player and he can break a run."

Because of ongoing construction work, the Homecoming speeches were held last night on a stage set up on the Green. While it was wonderful to have Dartmouth Night return after a year away, it didn't feel right or work nearly as well without the speakers and team captains seated in front of Dartmouth Hall. Tanner Cross spoke for the football program and did a fine job. Still, it was hard not to think back to another captain years ago who ad-libbed after his prepared speech a promise to, "open a can of whup-you-know what" on the next day's opponent.

The forecast at kickoff for today's Homecoming game: 62 degrees and cloudy, but with virtually no chance of rain.

EXTRA POINT
That Certain Dartmouth '14 is home from Colorado for a wedding and she's going to have a pretty fair three days of sports. Her big weekend will start at Memorial Field today with the Dartmouth Homecoming game against Yale. She'll be in the stands at Fenway Park tomorrow for the playoff game against the Rays, thanks to a friend having an extra ticket. And on Monday she'll be in the Hub to cheer on her training partner in the Boston Marathon. Yup, not a bad weekend at all!
