Take A Look

Courtesy of the Dartmouth football office, here are highlights from the trip to Philly, starting with the tailgate at Penn:

Playing Friday night allowed Dartmouth wide receivers coach Dave Shula to fly to Miami and participate in a farewell tribute Saturday to his late father Don, the winningest coach in NFL history, who died in May of 2020. From a story in the Miami Herald (LINK):

“The Shula men are 9-0!” eldest son Dave noted, with a grin of his own.

Dave is Dartmouth’s receivers coach, his son Chris is linebackers coach for the Los Angeles Rams, and Don’s younger son Mike is Cleveland Browns Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach — all three teams 3-0.

You've got to love this latest from Eli Manning regarding his crack during Monday Night Football:

The original Tweet by Kyler links to the FCS stats that showed him leading the nation in completion percentage.

Jake Novak down at the Roar Lions blog has his latest power ranking:

2. Harvard
3. Dartmouth
4. Yale
5. Columbia
6. Penn
7. Brown
8. Cornell

No team Dartmouth has played to date shows up on the Athlon Power Poll. Two teams on the upcoming schedule do. (LINK)

Aw shucks, I won't tease you. New Hampshire is No 22 and Princeton is No. 24.

From The Athletic (LINK):

The NCAA’s Division I Council voted Tuesday to approve a one-year waiver that will allow college football programs to increase the 2022 signing class limit by up to seven additional spots. The decision will officially take effect at the conclusion of Wednesday’s council meeting.

The waiver was initially proposed to help coaches with roster management months after the NCAA passed the one-time transfer rule, which allows all athletes to transfer once and play right away without penalty.

Football Scoop has a story HERE

Green Alert Take: I asked Buddy Teevens about that rule yesterday and he admitted to some concern about how it may impact Ivy League recruiting. Some of the "bubble" players who would be prime candidates to receive those schollies are also Ivy League targets.

Seven NFL teams had representatives at the Dartmouth-Penn game, with most spending time on the Big Green sideline. Two more have already been in town this week. Drawing the most attention are Isaiah Johnson, a 6-foot-3 corner who probably opened eyes by running down Penn wide receiver Ryan Cragun on a long reception, and safety Niko Mermigas. Offensive lineman JP Flores is also drawing eyes.

I'm not sure I'd seen this before. CLICK HERE for a detailed look at the Graham Indoor Practice Facility, AKA as The Green House on this site.

The Wide World of Stadiums, which earlier looked at Ivy League football stadiums (LINK), now turns its attention to the Patriot League, once the Ivy's sister conference. As was the case in the Ivy segment, there's some annoying commentary but it's worth a look.

I've been to all of the Patriot League facilities and like those at Bucknell and Lafayette the best. Except for one game every two years Yale would do well to do what Bucknell has done in the end zones of a stadium that is too large for this era of FCS football.

EXTRA POINT
Fingers crossed that the colors pop in time for Homecoming this weekend but I'm starting to wonder. A look out the window here at the BGA World Headquarters reveals the only brilliant color right now is the emerald green of our field. I wouldn't have thought I'd have to mow one more time before the first snow falls but I guess I thought wrong ;-(
