Harvard Down, Princeton Up

#
Former Dartmouth beat writer Tris Wykes made the trip to Cambridge to cover the Dartmouth-Harvard football game and posted one of his always well-written stories on his Octopus Athletics website HERE.

The local Valley News has a follow story on the game HERE.

There's a game story in The Dartmouth HERE and another in the Harvard Crimson HERE.

Dartmouth long snapper Josh Green “reflects on the impact that the fifth-year seniors have had on the Big Green football team as the team contends for an Ivy League championship,” in a column headlined, An Od to the Old Guys HERE.

Craig Haley of STATS has a couple of interesting notes on his Twitter:

• Princeton has the longest active road win streak in the FCS at 12. If the unbeaten Tigers don't win at Dartmouth on Friday, the top road win streak would shift to the Big Green, who've won 10 in a row. Princeton's last road loss was at Dartmouth in 2017.

And . . .

• Princeton handled Cornell 34-16 in steady rain Friday night, marking a 7-0 start for the third straight season, which last happened with the Tigers in 1901, ’02 and ‘03.

#

That note about Princeton's last string of 7-0 starts shows up in old friend TigerBlog's look at how the Tigers are doing what they are doing, a column that includes a quick glimpse at what lies ahead for them this Friday HERE.

EXTRA POINT
New house, new town, new state, new year and same old, same old. For the 25th year in a row our Halloween trick-or-treater count was . . . wait for it . .  . zero.

As someone who used to pull together a costume and ring doorbells right after school and then slap on a different costume and hit the same houses at night (except for the ones that handed out those horrible candy apples) I get it. When doorbells are this far apart the return on investment of time isn't worth it.

When we lived on the shoulder of Moose Mountain we would take our kids into town to trick or treat. We would always leave a basket of candy on the steps with a note telling whatever lucky kid stopped by to take it all. It never happened. Think The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown ;-)

Mrs. BGA laid in a bag of those little rectangular Hershey miniature candy bars this year just in case, but she knew. "I just wanted some chocolate," she admitted.
