The headline pretty much says it all about the early decision Dartmouth recruit who reports a laser-timed 4.38 in the 40. There will always be some who question a time like that but suffice it to say, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound Texan is fast. There's no news out of Dartmouth about the search to replace interim Athletic Director Peter Roby '79, who informed the staff recently that he will not pursue the position permanently. You can bet whatever search firm the college employs will have former women's basketball player Sherryta Freeman '01 on the list. The only news in today's edition of As The Transfer Portal Turns concerns Dartmouth corner Isaiah Johnson:
Green Alert Take: Having started his coaching career across the river at Hartford High School before moving on to Dartmouth, new UMass head coach Donnie Brown knows a lot of Upper Valley football people who might well have provided him with some "local knowledge." Also holding an offer from the UMass coach – perhaps best known as the former defensive coordinator at Michigan – is quarterback Derek Kyler.

EXTRA POINT
I understand gas prices have come down a bit, but as an electric car owner I wouldn't really know. I saw on the news last night that electric rates are going up as well. I'm not sure about that either. ;-)
As those of you who follow along may remember, we put in a solar tracker that "follows the sun" almost two years ago, and the thing is so efficient our electric bill pretty much amounts to fees and taxes. That might change a bit in these short, sun-challenged days of winter if we didn't bank enough in the summer, but with football over and all those trips to Hanover in the rear view mirror I'm not charging the car much at all.
So why, pray tell, do I still go around making sure lights are turned off and the fridge door is closed as quickly as possible?
