Perhaps of some interest to followers of FCS football in the Northeast is the CAA replacing James Madison, which is moving up to the FBS, with the tag team of New Jersey's Monmouth University and Hampton University, the first HBCU to join the powerhouse conference. EXTRA POINT
I have a fabulous spam filter with my email program that virtually never lets any junk mail slip into my box and only rarely filters out legit mail. Clearing the spam box yesterday I found an email about how my Facebook account had been hacked. Nice try spammer, but if you've been paying attention you'd know I don't have a Facebook account. Never have and never will.

By the way, when I left my job in Dartmouth sports information it was to be a feature writer at the local daily. One of the first stories I was asked to write was a piece about Spam – the meat product – in honor of its introduction 50 years before. I remember standing outside a couple of grocery stores asking shoppers if they happened to buy Spam that day and their thoughts about the product. I have to admit I got a lot of funny looks. I eventually lucked out and found a former GI who had great recollections of Spam from his time in the military and built much of the story around him. Turns out he was a Dartmouth alum and huge Big Green sports fan.
