Former Dartmouth offensive coordinator John Perry is headed to Sam Houston State as the FCS powerhouse team's OC. (LINK)
Perry, who ran the offense at Dartmouth from 2000-2004, was on staff at Rutgers last year after six seasons working with old friend Bill O'Brien on the Houston Texans staff. Perry is the brother of Brown coach James Perry and uncle of Bushnell winner EJ Perry.
Here's a screenshot of JP's Dartmouth bio:
Quarterback Connor Bazelak, the 2020 SEC Co-Freshman of the Year at Missouri, is transferring to Indiana. If the name is familiar it's because his dad, Len, '88 was one of the most accurate three-point shooters in Dartmouth history. Unfortunately for Len, the three-pointer didn't come along until his junior year. From the story about Connor Bazelak's transfer (LINK):
Coming out of Alter H.S. as a member of the 2019 recruiting class Bazelak was a four-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings that chose Missouri over offers from Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Purdue, Rutgers, Boston College, Duke, Georgia, N.C. State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Ohio, Temple, Toledo, Western Michigan, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale.

From a story in The Dartmouth, written by Kristin Chapman, daughter of onetime noseguard Pete Chapman '91, a captain of Buddy Teevens' first Ivy League championship team as a coach (LINK):
On Dec. 29, the College’s COVID-19 leadership team, led by interim provost David Kotz and executive vice president Rick Mills, announced that Dartmouth will move forward with in-person classes and move in despite surging COVID-19 cases across the nation due to the omicron variant.
In a video Q&A recorded on Jan. 5, Kotz and Mills stated that Dartmouth’s high vaccination rate, as well as the booster requirement, mask mandate and weekly testing, should work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and help permit in-person learning.
“We are beginning to recognize [COVID-19] isn’t going away,” Mills explained in an interview with The Dartmouth on Jan. 6. “This isn’t, ‘we’re going to wait it out,’ and we need to start to move forward on a path toward being able to operate with COVID being endemic rather than pandemic.”
Dartmouth's COVID-19 Dashboard shows 254 active cases among undergrads and 375 active cases on campus.
Green Alert Take: I wonder how the uptick in cases at Dartmouth and around the Ivy League will affect visits by prospective recruits in advance of the traditional February signing day.

EXTRA POINT
The subhead from the story in The Dartmouth notes that "The College has separated itself from its peer institutions with its comparatively relaxed COVID-19 policies."
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for That Certain Dartmouth '14, Western Colorado University is joining schools that are taking a different approach and has decided to hold classes remotely for the first two weeks of the semester. TCD'14 is disappointed because she will be teaching two evening classes at the school starting next week. That's in addition to her full-time day job as an educational ranger at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
