Fresh from Dartmouth's early morning practice, here's your Thursday news . . .
The Valley New localizes a Keene Sentinel story about so-called long haul COVID-19 sufferers that details the struggles faced by John Lyons, the former head football coach at Dartmouth, who retired this spring as defensive coordinator at New Hampshire. LINK

From the story:
The viral disease took him through the normal motions: body aches, migraines, fatigue, trouble sleeping. But after weeks with no progress, he knew something was off.
“I was really worried because I was a mess. I just couldn’t sleep. I didn’t have much of an appetite. I just felt awful …,” recalled Lyons, of White River Junction, Vt. “I thought, ‘Man, this is not good.’"
With help from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s post-acute COVID syndrome clinic Lyons' condition is improving. From the story:
Lyons said . . . lifestyle changes — in addition to prescription doses of magnesium and vitamin B2 to get rid of his headaches — have helped him get back, at least somewhat, to normal.
“From where I was about this time last year, it’s much, much better,” he said.
Lyons stopped by Dartmouth's Pro Day Tuesday to look in on his former UNH safety Evan Horn. He reiterated that he is feeling better, although he still has a way to go.
Green Alert Take: Hard to imagine what it must have been like for Lyons last year spending long hours watching video and game planning as the defensive coordinator at New Hampshire.

EXTRA POINT
After a long winter bundling up to stay warm during my daily hike, yesterday I was able to hit the trail in shorts. Although the temperature was in the upper 50s as the photograph shows there was a lingering reminder that winter didn't loosen its grip all that long ago:
