If you are worried about the future of college football in an era of Name, Image and Likeness, you are not alone. From an Associated Press story:

“The concept of name, image and likeness was for players to be able to use their name, image and likeness to create opportunities for themselves. That’s what it was,” (Alabama coach Nick) Saban said. “So last year on our team, our guys probably made as much or more than anybody in the country.”

Paying a player to attend a particular school is still a violation of NCAA rules, but NIL deals have quickly become intertwined with recruiting — both high school prospects and the growing number of college transfers.

“But that creates a situation where you can basically buy players,” Saban said. “You can do it in recruiting. I mean, if that’s what we want college football to be, I don’t know. And you can also get players to get in the transfer portal to see if they can get more someplace else than they can get at your place.”

It's getting a little crazy again. COVID-19 update headline in today's Dartmouth: Active cases spike to 329, including 196 undergraduates. From the blurb and the italics are mine (LINK):

As of Tuesday, there are 329 reported active cases of COVID-19 on campus, a spike from the 199 cases reported on April 11, according to the College COVID-19 dashboard. Reported cases continue to increase even after the College’s decision to make asymptomatic testing optional, which took effect on April 10.

The figure is made up of 196 undergraduate students, 103 graduate or professional students and 40 faculty members and staff. The number of active cases of COVID-19 in graduate and professional students more than doubled in two days, increasing from 42 cases on April 11.

EXTRA POINT

Through the window of the BGA World Headquarters I can see several pine trees perhaps 20 feet tall. One has a branch spiking into the air like the antenna atop the Empire State Building. Frequently birds will balance atop that shoot while they scan the lawn and field below. I'm always amazed at their vision when they take flight, swoop down 40 or 50 feet away and return to their perch with a worm or insect in their beaks. It's like having a National Geographic show right outside the window.

If I had a longer lens I could figure out or you could tell me what kind of bird this is. All I know is it has spectacular eyesight and is plenty fast.  ;-)

UPDATE: It's an American Kestrel described this way (HERE):

Petite falcon roughly the same size as Mourning Dove, but with a larger head and wider tail. In flight, note long, narrow wings and square-tipped tail. Often seen perched on telephone wires, along roadsides, in open country with short vegetation and few trees. From a perch or hovering, they usually drop to the ground to snatch small mammals and insects. Nests in cavities. Widespread across the Americas.
