Continuing with a theme, HERO Sports has a story headlined Most Likely FCS Over FBS Wins In 2022 that features two schools where Dartmouth graduate transfers will play this fall. (LINK)

Per HERO, the fifth-most likely FBS loss to an FCS school will be UMass (where linebacker Jalen Mackie '22 will play this fall) against Stony Brook. From the story:

UMass lost to two FCS teams last year. It was the first time that happened in one season since Georgia State lost to Chattanooga and Samford in 2013 during its first season as an FBS program.

HERO has Buffalo (where tight end Robbie Mangas '22 will play) the seventh-most likely FBS to team fall in its contest against Holy Cross. From the story:

Holy Cross beat UConn 38-28 last season. Buffalo will be a step up from UConn but still is viewed as one of the worst FBS teams entering 2022, preseason ranked No. 120 after going 4-8 last season.

As the school year rolls to a close, the Harvard Crimson takes a look back at The Call that Changed a Season: Football v. Princeton, Heartbreak of the Year. From the story (LINK):

Although seven months removed from the action, the disappointment is still raw for the players.

“When I think of the Princeton game, the loss still stings a bit,” (receiver Kym) Wimberly said. “Everyone, even Princeton, knows we won that game.”

EXTRA POINT
Two evenings ago Mrs. BGA and I planted "mammoth" sunflowers that are supposed to grow as tall as 12 feet. We'll see, but I'm not holding my breath for a couple of reasons.

First, although this property used to be a farm, where we planted some of the sunflowers at the top of our driveway the ground is almost impenetrable because of an abundance of slate. I pried as much of it as I could out of the ground so we could make a hole that we filled with potting soil but the sunflower roots are going to have to be very adventurous if they are going to find good soil in which to flourish.

Second, a couple of years ago we tried growing regular sunflowers along a path I weed-whacked through our field and after they got to maybe 18 inches they all disappeared. We've got a few pesky gophers or groundhogs on our property and I worry they may feast on whatever sunflowers are gutty enough to try to grow in our rockbound soil. Where's Carl Spackler when you need him?

If, and clearly it's a very, very big IF, the sunflowers make it, they are supposed to mature in 100 days. That would have them towering over our driveway on Sept. 1.  Stay tuned. ðŸŒ» ðŸŒ» ðŸŒ»
