This And That

From the "go figure" department . . .

This photo of former Dartmouth and Baylor wide receiver Drew Estrada showed up not in a Texas paper's website, but on the Gwinnett (Ga.) Daily Post’s Prep Sports page (LINK):

Estrada isn't the only former Dartmouth player going through what the NFL refers to as OTA's (organized training activities). From a report posted a few days ago on the Giants.com website (LINK):

Two young defenders were able to make plays at the line of scrimmage. Linebacker Elerson Smith got his hands on the ball on one play, batting down a pass at the line. Later on, fellow second-year linebacker Niko Lalos was also able to break up a pass at the line of scrimmage.

Lalos, like Estrada, was a member of the Dartmouth Class of 2020.

As noted in this space a while back, Dartmouth football began the sale of season tickets for football on May 2. Given that the release noted "All tickets will be provided digitally with entry completely contactless," I thought to click through to the ticket office HERE to see how that would work.

I was amused to find the following series of helpful videos:

Green Alert Take: As someone who runs a password protected website to largely the same demographic, I totally understand the value of having this series of videos.

Green Alert Take II: I wish the folks in the ticket office luck and a lot of patience, because they are going to need it.

Green Alert Take III: I hope they are going to take into account that there are those of us who don't have cell phones and may still want to see a game in person.

One more thing. For those of you looking to buy individual game tickets, they will go on sale in July. (LINK)

EXTRA POINT
I don't remember quite how I came across this but the other day I saw a YouTube video of a Stephen Colbert "Questionert" with Bruce Springsteen, and one of the questions he asked of The Boss was his favorite smell.

It was interesting stumbling across that video because my absolute favorite smell is all around us here on our Vermont hillside this week. That would be the smell of lilacs, which we have in abundance.

The people who built our house planted a long row of light and dark purple lilacs at the back of our property. The row runs 40-45 yards. There's another bunch alongside our garage _ including some of the white variety – and more in a grouping across the driveway. They bloom for only a couple of weeks or so each May but it's a glorious couple of weeks for sure.

(Oh, and in case you are wondering about the Boss' favorite smell, he said it is his wife, Patty. To see the Colbert video, click HERE.)
