Former Dartmouth defensive end Niko Lalos '20, who made such a big splash in a half dozen games with the New York Giants two years ago, has been waived by the NFL team after spending last year on the team's practice squad. (LINK)
Wide receiver Drew Estrada '20, who signed with the Houston Texans after going undrafted coming off a grad transfer year at Baylor, was pictured a few days ago in the NFL team's camp HERE.

There are 19 offensive linemen on the UConn roster, and the lineup has been fairly consistent since Day One of practice. Jake Guidone, a graduate transfer from Dartmouth, has made an impression early despite being out recently with a minor knee injury. Once he returns, Mora expects to plug him in at center and move Haynes to his primary position at guard.“(Guidone) has been a real leader for us,” Haynes said. “He’s down right now, but every day he’s getting us better, encouraging us. He’s taking notes, helping everybody out, helping the younger guys out. I really appreciate Jake.”
Also out of UConn comes the familiar face of former Dartmouth assistant Mickey Grace:

Ryan Danehy '06, one of the last true football-second sport athletes at Dartmouth, has been named head lacrosse coach at Mercer University in Macon, Ga. Danehy lettered three times as a longsnapper for the Big Green and four times on the lacrosse field and then played lax professionally for five years while beginning a long career on the sidelines that included a lengthy stint at his alma mater. From a story in The Dartmouth:
In recent weeks, Greek houses across campus have been gathering amongst themselves for a classic Dartmouth tradition: wedding tails. The basic premise? A sorority and fraternity pair up, and one person from each house acts as a bride and groom, respectively. The two houses then host a faux wedding for their chosen couple, complete with an unofficial officiator, vows, bridesmaids and groomsmen.
I'd heard of this, uh, tradition before but did not know that it got started when Andy Atterbury ’96, who played a little wide receiver at Dartmouth and did actually get married on Chase Field during his sophomore summer. Find the story HERE.
EXTRA POINT
The good news: Since the demise of the giant groundhog who scrambled into the culvert under our driveway whenever he spotted me, our surviving sunflower plant has had as many as six flowers blooming at once. While the furry critter was still with us the flowers were disappearing almost as quickly as they bloomed.
The bad news: I spotted another groundhog in the field on the other side of the house a couple of days ago. So far he hasn't discovered the sunflower plant we bought to replace the seedlings his buddy chewed up just days after they popped out of the dirt but if he does I may have to turn Griff the Wonder Dog on him!
