Quite A List

With former Dartmouth reserve wide receiver RJ Brandon now listed alongside linebacker Jalen Mackie on the University of Massachusetts roster, it's as good a time as any to clear up who has gone on to play where from last year's Big Green team.

Some of the players from last year's team who grad transferred had used up their Ivy League eligibility. Others had the option to return but chose instead to pack up their two Ivy League championship rings, graduate, and finish their careers elsewhere.

PLAYERS WHO COULD HAVE RETURNED:
Corner Isiah Johnson – Syracuse
Linebacker Jalen Mackie – Massachusetts
Wide receiver RJ Brandon – Massachusetts
Offensive lineman John Paul Flores – Virginia
Tight end Robbie Mangas – Buffalo
Nickel John Pupel – Boston College

PLAYERS WHO HAD NO MORE IVY LEAGUE ELIGIBILITY:
Quarterback Derek Kyler – Pittsburgh
Offensive lineman Jake Guidone – Connecticut
Tight end JJ Jones – New Mexico State
Defensive end Nate Boone – Case Western

One other former player still in a college uniform this fall is defensive back Micah Croom '20 at USC.

In advance of today's Ivy League football media day, the conference has dug up a video welcome to a previous media day that I don't recall ever seeing before:

Green Alert Take: Speaking of media day, here's hoping there's some solid information coming out of today's online event. That's not been the case most years since the conference went away from the in-person media day.

The third opponent preview went up last night on BGA Premium. With detailed looks at New Hampshire, Sacred Heart and now Valparaiso already posted, the site turns to the Ivy League with an overview of Brown tonight, Columbia tomorrow and the rest of the Ancient Eight in alphabetical order on succeeding days leading up to coverage of practice starting Sunday.

HERO Sports takes a look at the Patriot League race HERE.

Green Alert Take: Having just finished researching and writing about the 2022 Sacred Heart and Valparaiso teams I'm more disappointed than ever that the time wasn't spent preparing previews of Holy Cross and Colgate, or Lafayette or one of the other Patriot League teams.

EXTRA POINT
With That Certain Dartmouth '14 back from Colorado for a couple of days to attend a wedding, That Certain Nittany Lion '16 joined us for a family dinner last night. After eating we made the spur of the moment decision to reprise one of the activities we used to do when the two were younger and head to the drive-in movie in the next town south of here.

The theater was showing Bullet Train with Brad Pitt, and the feeling we had was, How bad could it be?

We found out.
