Not Just Any Monday

Trick-or-treat! I don't know about you but I think what I liked to find in my bag was either an Almond Joy or a Mounds bar. I was absolutely not a fan of candy apples, red or caramel. Too messy and too much work. ;-(

Harvard Magazine always does a terrific job with its recaps. Find a story HERE. Of note from the story is this, which addresses the quarterback change made by the Crimson:

The erstwhile starter, senior Charlie Dean, reportedly was injured in practice on Friday.

Green Alert Take: Fridays are for unpadded walk-throughs, usually in T-shirts and sweats. Injuries are rare in those, although I did once see a Dartmouth receiver suffer a serious knee injury during a Friday drill.

The Dartmouth doesn't exactly go out on a limb headlining its story about Saturday game, Halloween horror against Harvard: Football unlikely to repeat as Ivy League champion; The Big Green came up short, 28-13, in Saturday’s Homecoming game. Find the story HERE.

Trick or treat – Princeton scores two the other way as 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker Matthew Jester intercepts a two-point attempt against Cornell, hurdles a tackler and rumbles the length of the field to score a couple of points for the Tigers:

Dartmouth has several recent graduates who are bidding to play in the new XFL. The league announced its team names this morning and I've got to say, the bizarre one is the new San Antonio entry. So what will the team names be in USFL 3.0? Glad you asked:

EXTRA POINT
Forget The Great Pumpkin. We're still waiting for someone else.

Our first trick-or-treater.

In more than 20 years living on the shoulder of Moose Mountain in rural Hanover we never had a trick-or-treater. Not a one. Given that we were the fifth house on the right after two miles up a dirt road (and there were fewer houses on the left), the ROI for trekking our way wasn't really worth it. Still, after carting our kids into town where they would have a little more success, we left a bucket of candy each year – just in case – with a note inviting any trick-or-treater who mistakenly came our way to take it all. Every year the full bucket would be there when we got back home.

This will be our fourth Halloween in this house and while we are just 1/10th of a mile from pavement these days, houses are few and far between. So once again, we're still awaiting that first trick-or-treater. Maybe this year, Charlie Brown!
