Looking Ahead

Craig Haley at The Analyst includes Princeton-Dartmouth in one of his Week 10 Games of the Week, writing (LINK):

Exactly one year after suffering its most recent loss at Dartmouth, Princeton will seek to extend an FCS-leading nine-game winning streak. Freshman RB Ryan Butler has rushed for at least one TD in every game (10 overall) and wide receiver Andrei Iosivas has 150+ receiving yards in three of the last four games. The Tigers also are an FCS-best +17 in turnover margin. Having just three returning starters has caught up to Dartmouth’s defense, which is allowing more points (23.4) and yards (375.7) per game than in any season since 2009 and ’14, respectively.

The Pick: Princeton

Speaking of Andrei Iosivas, he's  listed second among the Top 10 FCS Senior Prospects by Josh Buchanan, an analyst for NFL Draft Scout and Phil Steele. Iosivas is averaging 111.1 yards per game on 50 catches. Of the Princeton standout Buchanan writes (LINK):

(H)e leads FCS in receiving yards per game. He is considered in the sixth-round range from most I have talked to, but his athleticism, big-play ability and physical tools will only cause him to rise even more during the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. I believe he could go higher than my current fourth-round projection.

Of Iosivas, he wrote:

One of the best players in the Ivy League also is one of the top track athletes in the country. On the field, the 6-3, 205-pound Hawaiian — his name is pronounced “Yoshi-vas” — had 41 catches for 703 yards. In track, he finished fourth in the country in the heptathlon and ran the fastest 60 in NCAA heptathlon history (6.71). Iosivas bench pressed 370 pounds this month and has vertical-jumped 39 inches. His 60-yard dash time would, by his own estimation, translate into a 4.2-something 40, but he points out that it was also out of the blocks and on a track, so maybe not. His position coach, Brian Flinn, predicts when Iosivas goes through the draft process and performs those tests he will “destroy them all. He trains year-around on how to start and sprint.” Iosivas bought a Jugs machine when he was quarantined during COVID to keep honing his skills.

ESPN had a story about Alabama getting a commitment from the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the country in the high school class of 2024. Nothing unusual about that but the QB's name is Julian Sayin, and if that last name sounds familiar it should. From the end of the story (LINK):

"I would say I'm a really accurate quarterback," he said. "I have a lot of experience with football. My brother (Aidan), he's the starter at Penn and I'm just learning a lot from him. I started as a sophomore. Football IQ is pretty high and very accurate. I can make plays on the run, too."

EXTRA POINT
A "rafter" of turkeys continues to show up most days to feed on the berries from ornamental trees outside our bedroom window. Yesterday I grabbed my camera to get a pic of one goofy Tom in the tree and just as I snapped it he flapped his wings and made a less-than-graceful drop to the ground. Wish this was clearer but the top photo shows him in the tree and he's earth-bound in the bottom shot:
