The "legendary" Bowl Game Game run by our good friend saw Mrs. BGA going into the Rose Bowl game last night with a legitimate shot at winning the grand prize. A message from the BGG organizer let her know that to win it all she needed Penn State to lose to Utah – because two of her closest competitors had assigned more points to the Nittany Lions in the "confidence" pool. He wrote:

"You should be rooting AGAINST Penn State."

Mrs. BGA's response:

"I just can't. I've been a Nittany Lions fan since before I was born."

It's true. Her father left Massachusetts to do his graduate work in chemistry at Penn State. Then on a fateful night she happened to meet the Certain Nittany Lion typing these words. A few years later That Certain Nittany Lion '16 – who was in Pasadena yesterday for the Rose Bowl – came along.

Penn State's win proved costly to Mrs. BGA, but we all agree it was worthwhile.

EXTRA POINT
While the rest of us were cheering on the Nittany Lions yesterday, That Certain Dartmouth '14 was driving a loaded car through snow from Colorado to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Today she begins her new assignment as the park's first Outdoor Recreation Planner. She's previously worked as an educational ranger at Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Everglades, Glacier Bay (Alaska) and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Parks, as well as at Colorado National Monument.

After offering to shoot a picture of a visiting family at a scenic overlook, one of the visitors took this shot of her on her first hike at the park, famous for the red rock "hoodoos" seen over her shoulder with more than a dusting of snow on them.

Here's a look at what the park looks like during spring and summer when it annually draws more than 1.5 million visitors and That Certain Dartmouth '14 will be back in her classic ranger "flat hat." ;-)
