Everything's Jake

Jake Guidone '20 from the Baltimore Ravens' website

A Baltimore Ravens FanSided site doing a countdown of players in the team’s camp takes a look at Dartmouth/UConn alum Jake Guidone, in camp with the NFL team as an undrafted free agent center. From the post (LINK):

Fascinatingly, he moved up a level and also moved from left guard to center. He started at center every game and played 788 snaps for the Huskies. So, Guidone is a one-year starter at center and a one-year starter in the FBS. He has one year of left guard experience in the Ivy League, and that is it.

That is why he went undrafted. Still, Guidone does have athleticsm, despite being a bit smaller.

Green Alert Take: Also pointing to his athleticism, but missing from that recap, is that he played a year of tight end for Dartmouth, earning All-Ivy League recognition.

The posting concludes . . .

A year with the coaching staff on the practice squad could easily lead to a roster spot in 2024. The Baltimore Ravens are patient and know they can find an Ivy League gem here and there. Still, that means that they will not push this in 2023, and he should shoot for the practice squad.

Here's a photo posted on Dartmouth football's social media of Guidone with the Ravens:

And because he spent last fall as a starter at UConn, here's a reminder of his play as a first-team All-Ivy League guard as a fifth-year senior at Dartmouth in 2021:

From a D1.ticker report:

Harvard will end team traditions “that are harmful to team culture” and undertake initiatives to address player safety and well-being in response to the findings of a recent investigation into the Harvard women’s ice hockey program, The Athletic’s Strang and Salvian report. According to an email from Crimson AD McDermott obtained by The Athletic, the findings of the report by law firm Jenner & Block made clear “that some traditions in recent years were experienced differently by different people and not all were comfortable with those activities or with expressing concerns relating to the program.”

EXTRA POINT
While we were on our three-week road trip to Utah the U.S. Mail delivered a replacement panel for a volleyball-sized solar lantern that had stopped functioning properly. There's an outside chance we'll get to see how the panel works tonight because for the first time since we arrived home Monday the forecast suggests we might actually see the sun at some point today. Suffice it to say it's been more than a little gloomy in these parts for a few days.
