Saturday Stuff

Dartmouth has posted a story under the headline, Big Green Learn, Grow and Connect at Black Student-Athlete Summit; Eight Dartmouth student-athletes traveled to the summit in late May. (LINK)

Attending from the football team were junior linebacker Micah Green, sophomore defensive end Jabari Johnson and senior running back Joey Richmond.

Green will share the presidential leadership role in the Dartmouth Black Student-Athlete Alliance this  year with Bomi Ogunlari of the women's volleyball team.

As I continue researching for BGA Premium opponent previews I worked up a list of returning members of last year's All-Ivy League teams. (Because I haven't yet been able to ferret out what fifth-year seniors are returning at two of the Ivy League schools I've not included any fifth-years for this list. Those I know about are listed below the rankings.)

For fun, an arbitrary five points were assigned to each returning member of the first team, three for the second team and one for honorable mention. Using that metric, here is how the teams stack up with regard to returning All-Ivy talent:

EXTRA POINT
Mrs. BGA and I went to see the new movie Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One last night and I did something I've never done before. After getting a little lost in the new Indiana Jones movie and having gotten quite lost in previous films in the MI series, I read not just the brief synopsis of the movie, but a lengthy play-by-play explaining the flick scene by scene.

Guess what? It worked. I was actually able to follow the story without getting very lost. And this is key: Whatever spoilers were in the detailed explanation of the film did not ruin it.

What almost did ruin it, however, was something else.

This was the first time we've been to a small multiplex in downtown St. Johnsbury, Vt.. After buying our tickets we entered the first theater down the hall and were surprised and disappointed that the film was already going. We thought we were about 10 minutes early.

Knowing the plot from what I read earlier, I soon realized we had to be at least midway through the film, so we slunk out of the theater and headed back toward the ticket window to find out the deal. Before we got there, however, I looked down the hall and noticed that MI was showing in another theater. We went into that one, grabbed our seats and had to stifle a laugh midway through the flick when we re-watched the five minutes we'd also seen one theater over.
