Read Away

Before we get to the day's notes, a reminder that BGA Premium opponent previews kicked off last night with a look at Colgate that ran almost 1,000 words (accompanied by several graphics). Tonight's post will consider Lehigh and tomorrow's will be about New Hampshire before the Ivy League previews start with Brown and continue in alphabetical order.

If you are a returning subscriber and can't remember your password, you can reset it at the link "Forgot" circled below:

If you are new to the site, the menu for pulling up stories is in the upper right on a web page:

Full password protection will be in place for the start of Ivy League opponent previews Saturday. If you sign up after that you will obviously be able to scroll back and read the previews.

And finally . . . apologies if you have trouble pulling the site up on your phone. I'm no techie and haven't been able to work that problem out. Some subscribers can get it to work, but it's a mystery to me.

Kaskey '19, a 6-foot-7, 325-pound offensive tackle, becomes the third Dartmouth alum in an NFL camp, joining center Jake Guidone '21 with the Baltimore Ravens and linebacker Niko Lalos '20 with the New Orleans Saints.

Find a brief story on Kaskey, who played for the Birmingham Stallions in the spring, HERE.

Speaking of alums, a story headlined 2023 Buffalo Bulls Positional Previews: Offensive Skill Positions includes this (LINK):

Zion Carter arrives from Dartmouth of the FCS level, where he excelled as a blocking tight end. Blocking tight end is a position in itself at Buffalo, considering the Bulls’ proclivity to run often. For instance, Jake Molinich was a full-time starter for several years at Buffalo and only caught six passes, but was a vital piece to those Jaret Patterson-Kevin Marks gargantuan rushing numbers. Carter could thrive in that role . . .

A reminder that former Dartmouth captain Robbie Mangas '22, was Buffalo's starting tight end last fall and is currently the program's offensive analyst and quality control coach. (LINK)

The Ivy League has announced the two players from each school who will be on the Media Day call on Monday. (LINK) Dartmouth's two fifth-year selections, pictured below in the screen grab from the story, should be no surprise:

Green Alert Take: Scrolling through old files while working on previews I stumbled across an interview with Nick Howard outside the Dartmouth locker room after last year's overtime loss at Sacred Heart. It was interesting to listen to the Big Green quarterback talk about what he and the team needed to work on after letting the game get away. He always says the right things, as does fellow returning captain Quinten Arello.

In a piece picking the likely champions of every FCS conference this fall, HERO Sports doesn't exactly go out on a limb, choosing Yale to win the Ivies and Holy Cross to win the Patriot. (LINK)

HERO, by the way, has a Patriot League preview that picks Dartmouth's Oct. 14 opponent Colgate to finish third and Sept. 23 opponent Lehigh to finish sixth (one spot ahead of last-place Georgetown). (LINK)

EXTRA POINT

Thanks to those who sent along anniversary wishes. We had a very nice day on Lake Winnipesaukee, starting with a couple of hours on the beach and in the water as the tourist train rumbled by and the M/S Mount Washington returned from a scenic cruise. Then it was dinner on a beach-side deck and finally some Skee-Ball, capped by giving the tickets we won to some very, very excited children. An added bonus: We stopped for a sandwich at Jersey Mike's in an outlet mall on the way and were rewarded with a free charge for our EV.
