Long Snapper Hits The Mark

Dartmouth long snapper Josh Greene penned a wonderful letter to Buddy Teevens in The Dartmouth HERE.

Green Alert Take: Gotta admit, smiles have been hard to come by the last week or so but the fifth-year senior's letter brought a few few as he described the Buddy Teevens I knew.

The Dartmouth also has a well-done piece headlined, ‘He was the spirit of this place’: Buddy Teevens ’79 honored with candlelight vigil and football victory. Find it HERE.

AccuWeather is calling for 70 degrees and "a stray morning shower; otherwise, mostly cloudy" for Saturday in Philadelphia. The Weather Channel predicts 66 degrees and cloudy with a 15 percent chance of rain and 10 mph wind from the north-northeast at kickoff.

Green Alert Take: Could be worse.

The University of New Hampshire was seconds away from taking Central Michigan to overtime earlier this month and had victories over Big Ten opponents Rutgers in 2004 and Northwestern in 2006. But the challenge in four years is going to be a l-i-t-t-l-e tougher. No, make that a L-O-T tougher. From the UNH website:

The University of New Hampshire football team will challenge The Ohio State University of the Big Ten Conference on Sept. 11, 2027, at Ohio Stadium, the two schools announced Thursday.

The Wildcats are 2-1 all-time versus current Big Ten schools, with victories against Rutgers (2004) and Northwestern (2006) --both with Head Coach Rick Santos '08 as starting quarterback-- and a loss to Minnesota (2012).

The head coaching matchup between Santos and Ohio State's Ryan Day '02 will pit two all-time great Wildcat quarterbacks head-to-head in The Horseshoe.

EXTRA POINT
Saw a bus headed toward Hanover yesterday that sure looked as if it might have been filled with "Leaf Peepers." The hope is that it wasn't because it's still early for the big show. Per the interactive map HERE it would seem "peak foliage" could arrive in these parts just in time for next Saturday's game against Yale.

The VisitNH site writes (LINK):

Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee Region: 10% - 15% Color Change

The landscapes around the Sunapee area have begun to welcome color in the treetops, though the landscapes have not started a mass transition yet. The shores of Lake Sunapee are primarily green at this stage, but leaf peepers can still enjoy this beautiful area while on the hunt for color. Leaves along I-89 through Lebanon are leaving an orange hue over the surrounding landscapes, but we should see more colors develop in the coming weeks.
