Still More Portal Developments

Dartmouth defensive lineman Charlie Looes, a finalist for the Ivy League defensive player of the year as a fifth-year senior, has found his new home. He'll play next fall as a grad transfer at Rice:

On the portal front, other eyes spotted an error in yesterday's post and several emailers have shared news that Dartmouth does, in fact, have an undergrad in the transfer portal. That would be sophomore wide receiver Ivan Hoyt, who appeared in seven games last fall with one reception. He also saw action in 20 games with the Dartmouth baseball team as an infielder/pitcher. He is no longer listed on the 2023 Big Green football roster.

Former Dartmouth wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has been named the 2023 Football Scoop Wide Receivers Coach of the Year for his work at LSU. From a FootballScoop.com piece noting that Hankton also was the LSU passing game coordinator (LINK):

LSU was the only team to boast two players with 14 touchdown receptions, and the only team with three receivers to average at least 17.98 yards per catch.

And . . .

A Texas Southern graduate, Hankton played six seasons in the NFL and nine seasons of professional football overall. He entered coaching at Dartmouth in 2012 and coached wideouts at Vanderbilt and Georgia before returning to his native Louisiana as an original member of Brian Kelly's staff in 2022.

The Mack Report has a posting noting that Merrimack, which will play host to Dartmouth on Sept. 28 next season, will have FBS games at Air Force on Aug 31 and at UConn on a date to be announced. (LINK) Merrimack was added to the Dartmouth schedule after the Big Green's much-anticipated game at Army was officially canceled to free the Black Knights up to play in the American Athletic Conference.

EXTRA POINT
Still not even a hint of sun since before Christmas. We've traded four consecutive days of fog for a light, wet snow. Rumor is Ol Sol could make an appearance tomorrow and that's just fine with me because our solar tracker hasn't been adding much to the power grid this month. We're not in the Burlington, Vt., area per se, but this screengrab from last night's weather should give you an idea of what it has been like here in northern New England this month:
