Chasing The Dream

Safety Quinten Arello,  a two-time Dartmouth captain as a fifth-year senior last fall, took part in the College Gridiron Showcase earlier this month in Fort Worth, Texas. Upwards of 135 scouts representing all 32 NFL teams were in attendance for the event. From the CGS website: "81 CGS players are currently on NFL rosters, many from small programs that just needed a shot!"

If you've got the time and patience, Arello is listed among the participants in this CGS video of 1-on-1s.

Arello's desire to keep playing football isn't unusual.

Matt Oh, '11 a former Dartmouth linebacker, (BIO), has a first-person account of chasing his football dream and successfully coming out the other side in Dartmouth Alumni Magazine HERE. Both Buddy Teevens and Sammy McCorkle get a mention in the piece.

Two Ivy League products will play in the Super Bowl and another will be on the practice field helping his team prepare for the game.

Representing the defending champion Chiefs will be wide receiver Justin Watson of Penn and defensive end Truman Jones of Harvard. While Jones is on the Kansas City practice squad, Watson has enjoyed the most successful season in his sixth year in the NFL. He caught 27 passes for 460 yards and three touchdowns this year.

Representing the 49ers is perennial Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk, the former Harvard tight end now in his 11th season. While he's been selected to the Pro Bowl for the eighth consecutive year his wife, Kristin, has stolen some of the spotlight after a certain girlfriend of a Kansas City Chiefs tight end was shown wearing one of her custom outfits. EXTRA POINT
Here in the BGA World Headquarters we have a laser printer that flashed a message that its toner was running low so we made sure we picked up a new tone cartridge because those things always run dry just when there's something important you are in the middle of printing.

That was more than a month ago and that new toner is still in its box.

I guess it wasn't that low. But hey, at least we've got a replacement cartridge when it finally does give out.
