Happy U.S. Open  Father's Day!

You'll have to turn the volume way up and may need to do a little lip-reading to pick up everything Dartmouth coach Sammy McCorkle has to say in this interview with New England Football Journal at the Best of New England Football Camp in Springfield, Mass.:

What is it PT Barnum is reputed to have said? "Any publicity is good publicity."

That came to mind when I saw this graphic, which may have some problems, but hey, at least it includes Dartmouth at No. 31.

There are a couple of problems with the graphic. It says it is about mascots but instead shows logos. So which is it about? I'm going to guess logos because apart from Keggy, Dartmouth doesn't have a mascot.

And while it's supposed to be college football mascots, the graphic includes George Washington, which doesn't even field a football team.

Update: Turns out it was about mascots but the creator used logos. Go figure. For the original listing of mascots, with a picture of Keggy, click HERE.

There are photos of former Dartmouth offensive lineman Matt Kaskey and all the former Carolina Panthers playing in the UFL championship game today HERE.

Kaskey and the Birmingham Stallions will take on the San Antonio Brahmas at 5 p.m. ET in the championship game on FOX. Kaskey will be one of two Ivy Leaguers in the contest with Penn product Prince Emili a defensive lineman on San Antonio, being the other.

EXTRA POINT
Yesterday Mrs. BGA and I made sure to start our day early for two reasons.

First, our itty bitty little post office, which is staffed only until 11 a.m. on weekdays, shuts down even earlier on Saturdays and I was waiting for an important and timely package that was already three days late. And second, because the shop that fixed our lawn tractor in late winter hadn't returned two phone calls about another issue with the machine, I wanted to talk with someone face-to-face.

Suffice it to say it's been a couple of frustrating couple of days.

It started on Friday when we drove north to pick up our '84 VW camper. Our VW Whisperer had taken the day off to celebrate his son's graduation, so he wasn't going to be there, but he said it was fine to pick the bus up. Unfortunately, the thing wouldn't start. We had to leave it for more work and drive the 90 minutes home empty-handed. Strike one.

That disappointment was fresh on our minds when we arrived at the post office yesterday morning only to find a sign on the door saying that staffing issues meant no clerk was available. The yellow slip telling us we had a package would remain in our box until Monday. Strike two.

From the post office we drove 20 minutes north and across the Connecticut River to see about getting the lawn tractor fixed. We pulled into the parking lot and walked up to the door only to find a sign saying they were closed for the day to celebrate a graduation. Strike three.
