Media Names Kaskey All-UFL

Click graphic for a closer look.

The United Football Media announced on social media its All-UFL team and circled in yellow as a choice at offensive tackle is Matt Kaskey '19. The Dartmouth grad's Birmingham Stallions are bidding for their third championship in as many years and second since he joined the team. The media's All-UFL offense:

Left Tackle: Matt Kaskey #63 (Birmingham Stallions)
Left Guard: Cohl Cabral #69 (Michigan Panthers)
Center: Jake Lacina #68 (Arlington Renegades)
Right Guard: Liam Fornadel #75 (DC Defenders)
Right Tackle: Juwann Bushell-Beatty #73 (St. Louis Battlehawks)
Quarterback: Adrian Martinez #9 (Birmingham Stallions)
Wide Receiver #1: Hakeem Butler #88 (St. Louis Battlehawks)
Wide Receiver #2: Jontre Kirklin #13 (San Antonio Brahmas)
Tight End: Sal Cannella #80 (Arlington Renegades)
Running Back #1: Matt Colburn II #26 (Michigan Panthers)
Running Back #2: Jacob Saylors #15 (St. Louis Battlehawks)

Kaskey and the 10-1 Stallions will play the 7-3 San Antonio Brahmas at The Dome in St. Louis tomorrow at 5 p.m. for the spring league championship in a game to be broadcast on Fox.

The Brahmas were the only team to beat the Stallions this year, defeating them, 18-9, at the Alamodome in San Antonio on May 25. That was the only game this year in which the Birmingham offense didn't reach the 20-point mark.

The Stallions advanced to the championship game last week with a 31-18 win over the Michigan Panthers. The Brahmas, meanwhile, were knocking off the St. Louis Battlehawks in their semifinal, 25-15.

Following up on yesterday's "Best Of" choices, HERO Sports is now offering the "Best Returning 2024 FCS Wide Receiver In Each Conference," and of note are (LINK):
IVY
Jared Richardson, Penn, Jr.
2023 STAT LINE: 67 receptions, 788 yards, 8 TDs
Only a rising junior, this Pennsylvania native truly broke through in the passing game after playing sparingly his freshman season. His 2023 highlight game came when he set a school record with 17 receptions against Yale, while also adding 191 yards and a TD.

PATRIOT
Garrett Cody, Fordham, Sr.
2023 STAT LINE: 54 receptions, 856 yards, 7 TDs
Like some of the other conferences mentioned in this piece, this spot for the Patriot League was a tough call. Colgate’s Treyvohn Saunders (68 catches, 859 yards, 4 TDs) also had an impressive 2023 and he’s back. We gave the nod to Cody because last year he shared the ball with stud WR M.J. Wright, and this year QB C.J. Montes will need Cody to step up even more.

Green Alert Take: The Big Green will see Fordham and Cody in Week One of the season and Richardson in Week Three.

Green Alert Take II: For my money, Dartmouth's Paxton Scott certainly deserved consideration for the Ivy League choice.

EXTRA POINT
When we got a late-winter snow our plow driver unfortunately peeled up some of the grass where our driveway meets the lawn. Once the growing season began I dutifully bought a couple of bags of soil and some grass seed and got to work repairing the area.

I have to be honest. The grass I planted came up pretty spotty and I'm going to have to get back out there and try again.

Riddle me this. Why is the grass pushing up through a few cracks in the driveway going absolutely bonkers while the stuff I so carefully planted took a peek at the sky and said, "No thanks?"
