Wrapping Up Commencement

Tennis great Roger Federer speaking at Dartmouth's commencement:

Dartmouth’s legendary football coach Buddy Teevens used to recruit players by telling their parents: “Your son will be a great football player when it’s football time, a great student when it’s academic time, and a great person all the time.”

That is what a Dartmouth education is all about.

Listen to that sound bite HERE.

Speaking of football alumni, Flo Orimolade '17 and the Toronto Argonauts opened the CFL season with a 35-27 win yesterday over the BC Lions. Orimolade had three tackles for loss including this "masterpiece" of a sack:

Well that's going to be interesting!

Dartmouth plays intrastate rival New Hampshire on Sept. 25 2027. Wanna guess who the Wildcats play two weeks before that?

How about the Ohio State Buckeyes? That's right. Missed this last fall but former UNH QB Ryan Day and the Big Ten powerhouse will host the Wildcats on Sept. 11, 2027.  (LINK)

Green Alert Take: With wins over Rutgers in 2004 and Northwestern in 2006 and a loss to Minnesota in 2016, UNH is 2-1 all-time against Big Ten schools. Don't expect the Wildcats to make that 3-1 in Columbus, but they won't come away empty-handed. From a story out of Cleveland (LINK):

Financial details have not yet been disclosed, but the game check should greatly benefit UNH’s bottom line. Youngstown State received $800,000 for (last) season’s game.

EXTRA POINT
Is this a nasty pollen season where you live? It's off the charts here.

A few weeks ago we changed out the glass for screens in our sun room and the stone floor our there now has a yellowish-green patina. Ditto for the Adirondack chairs on our porch.

Fortunately, we aren't allergic to the pollen. Unfortunately, there's someone in the family who is bothered by it.

That would be Griff the Wonder Dog, whose eyes fill with glop when the pollen is this bad. Poor guy is on a course of antihistamine until the pollen release diminishes.
