The Weekend That Was

Here's your weekend wrap:

Columbia 24, Wagner 6
Joey Giorgi ran for 111 of Columbia 's 228 yards on the ground and Carter McFadden picked off two passes to lead the Lions (3-1, 1-0) over Wagner (3-4). Columbia ran out to a 24-0 lead before Wagner got on board late in the second quarter. Neither team scored in the second half in front of 2,637 on Staten Island. 

Penn  31, Bucknell  21
Malachi Hosley picked up where he'd been before being slowed by Dartmouth, running for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Penn improved to 2-2 (0-1 Ivy) while Bucknell fell to 3-3. The game drew 2,054 to Franklin Field.

No. 19 Rhode Island 31, Brown 21
The Bears carried a 21-14 led into the late stages of the third quarter only to have Rhode Island drive 77 yards for a field goal, take the lead on a 45-yard touchdown run early in the fourth and sew the game up with an 80-yard drive and a TD with 2:49 left. Brown fell to 2-2 (1-0 Ivy) while URI improved to 5-1, 2-0 in front of 5,773 in Kingston.

No. 7 Mercer 34, Princeton  7
The Bears used a field goall, a 49-yard punt return and a fumble recovery in the end zone to jump out to a 17-0 lead. After Princeton got on the board late in the second quarter, Mercer tacked on 17 more unsanswered points in the second half. Mercer improved to 6-0 while Princeton fell to 1-3, 0-1 before 8,143 in Macon.

And from Friday night:

Harvard 38, Cornell 20
In the nationally televised Ivy League game of the week, Jaden Craig completed 20-of-27 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns with Cooper Barkate catching seven balls for 130 yards and two scores to lead the Harvard (3-1, 1-1 Ivy). Jameson Wang had 153 yards and two touchdowns passing and 67 yards and one touchdown on the ground for the Big Red (1-3, 1-1).

Elsewhere in games featuring Dartmouth opponents, it was Central Connecticut improving to 3-3 with a 38-20 win over Mercyhurst, Fordham (0-7)  falling at Holy Cross and Merrimack (2-4) winning at Morgan State, 32-24.

EXTRA POINT
It took 20 months after she hung up her stethoscope but Mrs. BGA finally got her chair after a lot of years at DHMC and best of all, they got the alphabet soup after her name right. ;-)
