News On The Grad Transfer Front X 3

Graduating Dartmouth players continue finding landing spots for their final year of eligibility. The latest is tailback Q Jones:

Green Alert Take: Jones will hope to follow in the footsteps of former Sacred Heart standout Malik Grant, who landed at URI as a grad transfer last fall and had a huge season with 1,426 yards and 13 touchdowns rushing while averaging 101.9 yards per game.

Also in the news is another former Dartmouth player who went on to grad transfer at Albany. Kish Sports Media has an interview with return specialist/wide receiver Jamal Cooney HERE.

A final Dartmouth grad transfer has signed to play indoor football, although the release put out by the Iowa Barnstormers includes a confusing mistake. From the story (LINK):

The Iowa Barnstormers have signed wide receiver James Jones III to the 2025 roster, Head Coach Dave Mogensen announced today.
And . . .
Collegiately, Jones spent four seasons at Dartmouth College. During his time with the Big Green, Jones appeared in 28 games collecting 17 receptions for 223 yards and two touchdowns earning All Ivy League Second Team Honors in his senior season. Jones then transferred to New Mexico State University as a Graduate Student, where he appeared in nine games with the Aggies.

"James is a big body wide receiver hybrid that had the capability to do a lot of different stuff for us offensively," said Coach Mogensen. "We plan to utilize him to diversify our offense and add wrinkles we otherwise wouldn't be able to."
Jones will enter the Iowa Barnstormers Training Camp in the spring.

The confusion? Here's the second sentence of the release:

Jones (5-10, 190, Utah State) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League (IFL).

James Jones III was listed at 6-foot-2, 220-pounds as a fifth-year senior at Dartmouth in 2021, when he made the All-Ivy League second team. (BIO) He saw time last year with the Iowa Woo of The Arena League.
