From this ESPN story  . . .

. . . comes this (LINK):

69. Oct. 12: Dartmouth 44, Yale 43

With eight minutes left in a game that had major Ivy League title stakes, Yale led 37-16. But Dartmouth scored, recovered an onside kick and scored again to make it 37-30 with 6:34 left. Yale's Nick Conforti missed a game-clinching field goal, and Grayson Saunier raced 32 yards to tie the score. Conforti missed a long field goal at the buzzer, and after the teams traded TDs in overtime, the Bulldogs failed on what would have been the game-winning 2-pointer.

Ever-so-rare is the Ivy League game against an FBS opponent. It's different at other FCS schools, which not only give their players a unique opportunity, but fill their coffers as well. Per HERO Sports, Patriot League champion Lafayette will be receiving $500,000 for visiting Oregon State next fall, and Albany will get a half million dollars for a game at Iowa. New Hampshire isn't facing quite the same kind of challenge, but it is still taking home $325K for its game at Ball State. Green Alert Take: It's a shame Dartmouth players weren't able to play the previously scheduled game at Army last fall. First Buddy Teevens, and now Sammy McCorkle have expressed interest in playing an occasional FBS game in the past. While I'm not sure I'd schedule a Power Four opponent, I imagine playing a Group of Five opponent would be a challenge Ivy players would embrace and, as the HERO story points out, it wouldn't hurt the budget.

Green Alert Take II: And speaking of scheduling, we're still waiting news of Dartmouth's Sept. 27 opponent. The other nonconference opponents are New Hampshire on Sept. 20 in Hanover and Fordham on Oct. 18 in The Bronx. Athletic Director Mike Harrity indicated in the most recent Dartmouth Friends of Football Zoom call that the schedule was close to being finalized, but we've heard nothing since.

EXTRA POINT

As has been the case most days of late, we got a little snow last night. This morning the sun is shining through a few puffy clouds and that's a good thing. Several weeks of gray, overcast skies and shorter days when the sun did make an appearance ran down the batteries both on our video bird feeder and the solar light we have above the entryway to our house. Now with two electric cars and an electric lawn tractor we can use as much sunlight on our huge solar tracker as we can get!
