Quakers On Deck

There are two games involving Ivy League teams on tap tonight. Columbia visits Princeton in the Ivy opener for both teams at 7:30 on ESPNU.

Brown and Rhode Island will meet up at 7 in a neutral-field game to be streamed on ESPN+. The contest is being played at Centreville Bank Stadium, a new soccer facility in Pawtucket.

Predictions for both games and the rest of the weekend slate went up on BGA Overtime last night.

I was at the Dartmouth practice yesterday and will have a Dartmouth-Penn preview tonight.

It's not a Dartmouth-Penn preview but The Dartmouth has a story headlined From the Bayou to the Big Green: The journey of quarterback phenom Grayson Saunier ’27. Find the story HERE.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has a preview (behind a paywall) that includes this (LINK):

After losing to the Big Green last year, and having lost eight of the last 11 games played against Dartmouth (2-0) all-time, Penn (1-1) head coach Ray Priore believes the team has been building all year to flip the script against the two-time defending Ivy League champions.

“I’m hopeful how hard our kids have worked from the end of the season last year to this year shows,” Priore said. “You don’t turn around in a week prepared to play, so this preparation goes way back.”

Maybe it's the time I spent in Happy Valley, maybe it's a lot of years around the Upper Valley, but either way, count me among those who like traditional uniforms, so this week gets a thumb's up.

EXTRA POINT

We watched the Yankees-Red Sox game last night and I was reminded once again just how annoying it is when TV networks allow crowd noise to drown out the broadcasters. Some crowd noise is great. It adds to the excitement. But when you can't hear the announcers over the noise, it's too much.
