Chris Corbo Heading To Georgia Tech

Transfer offers are starting to come in for graduating Dartmouth players and one has already made headlines with his choice of a new home.

Chris Corbo, Dartmouth's 6-foot-5, 250-pound tight end will play his final season of college football as a graduate student at Georgia Tech, which had had success tapping into the Ivy League talent pool. As a story posted by On3 reports (LINK):
Ivy League transfers have been good to Georgia Tech over the past few seasons with former Yale tight end Jackson Hawes performing well enough in his one year as a Jacket in 2024 to be drafted by the Buffalo Bills and former Penn running back Malachi Hosley leading Tech in rushing this past season in his first year on The Flats.

A senior, Corbo caught 77 passes for 831 yards and 11 touchdowns over the last two seasons with the Big Green. Find his Dartmouth bio HERE.

In other breaking news, Dartmouth is losing running backs/special teams coach Braxton Chapman to a position at Kent State. Find a story about his move HERE. Chapman spent two seasons with the Big Green. Find his Dartmouth bio HERE.

Back to Corbo. Although he was named first-team All-America by the Associate Press, Stats Perform, the American Football Coaches Association and Phil Steele, somehow he was not chosen to the All-ECAC first-team offense. That honor went instead to Marist's Connor Holstein, a grad transfer from Princeton. Here's the full All-ECAC team, which featured 10 Ivy Leaguers, although none from Dartmouth:

Long emblematic of "Supremacy in the East," the Lambert Trophy was joined in 1982 by the Lambert Cup, recognizing the top FCS team in the East. Here's how voting for the Lambert Cup finished this year:

1. Villanova
2. Lehigh
3. Yale
4. Rhode Island
5. Harvard
6. New Hampshire
7. Monmouth (NJ)
8. Delaware State
9. Lafayette
10. Central Connecticut State
Others Receiving Votes: Dartmouth, Duquesne, William & Mary

Dartmouth's only Lambert Cup win came in 2015. Somehow the undefeated 1996 team that finished 10-0 lost out to 10-3 William & Mary.

Dartmouth won the Lambert Trophy in 1965 and 1970 prior to the Division IA-IAA split.

If you needed a football fix on a Monday night without NFL on the screen and happened to tune in to the FCS Championship game from Nashville you saw a thriller. Montana State needed a blocked field goal in the final minute and a blocked PAT in overtime to survive the upset bid of unseeded Illinois State, 35-34. It was the first overtime game in FCS Championship history. Find a game story HERE.

Green Alert Take: Worth noting is that prior to the national championship game, Montana State's postseason featured a 44-28 win over Stephen F. Austin, a 48-23 win over Montana and . . . a narrow 21-13 home win over Yale. Think the Ivy League belongs in the playoffs?

The Dartmouth men's basketball team traveled to Harvard and came home last night with a 76-68 win over the Crimson. The Big Green is now 7-7 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League while the Crimson is 7-8 and 0-1 in the Ivy.

Incredibly, it was Dartmouth's first road win in its Ivy League opener since the 1998-99 season.

Green Alert Take: I refuse to share a link to another of those almost unreadable "how it happened" game recaps on the Dartmouth athletics website. Instead, find an actual game story in the Harvard Crimson HERE.

EXTRA POINT
It's been an interesting winter so far here at our Vermont hillside home. While we haven't had any major snowstorms, it feels as if every night or day we get another inch or two. Still, the now depth revealed by the snow stick in front of our house never seems to shrink or grow much.

We're just shy of six inches of standing snow this morning. For what it's worth, there have been years when that three-foot stick was entirely covered until spring.
