EXTRA POINT
Our driveway is gravel for the first 75 feet or so and it's paved from there to our garage and house. Because our plow guy came early last week, the blacktop section of the driveway is perfectly clear of snow and ice. That's a good thing because the rest of the driveway – where the plow can't scrape as effectively and the ground is frozen solid – is sheer ice. Credit (blame?) a little rain during the day, freezing temperatures at night, and piles of snow on either side of the driveway that channeled the runoff into the frozen canal that slopes down from the road.

I haven't yet broken out the rock salt and sand, but it we don't get some snow to cover the ice, or some sun to melt it, I'll have no choice. Even Griff the Wonder Dog is avoiding the driveway and staying on the snow-covered banks off to the side.
