DE Marques White, UMass: White is arriving from possibly the worst program currently in the FBS, but that doesn’t mean he can’t help the Mustangs in 2025. He’s played seven seasons of college football, starting his career at Dartmouth before stops at McNeese State and UMass. He posted 50 tackles, including 11 for loss and five sacks last year. He also broke up two passes and recovered a pair of fumbles. SMU loses its most productive pass rushers – Cameron Robertson and Isaiah Smith – from 2025 to graduation.
White was involved with Virginia before committing to SMU and 247Sports had a piece in which White talked about what he was taking into consideration before making his decision about where to finish his career (LINK):
"Even on the academic side, talking to Ms. Sydney Martin [Director of Student Success for Football], she walked us through the possible paths, and we found one that would work perfectly for me. It was a master's degree in higher education," he said. "But she understood that I wanted to be more on the business side, so she said that there's plenty of opportunities - talking to alums and former college players, NFL guys - talking to them, getting possible internships, and talking more of the business side with them. So it's a combination of both worlds. We get the sports, get to understand the ins and outs of colleges, and the business."
