Game Day

The Dartmouth-Merrimack preview went up last night on BGA Overtime. At some point later tonight the site will have a game story, and as always there will be additional coverage out of the game Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

One word to describe today's forecast at gametime in Hanover? Brisk.

The temperature should be in the mid-40s with some sunshine and the wind blowing at around 12 mph.

There are no game notes from Merrimack but there is a preview story HERE.

Green Alert Take: If the Warriors want to become part of an FCS Division I conference, providing game notes for the media – and now online – might help. Perhaps they can learn something by studying the game notes compiled by Division III St. Johns! (LINK)

The Merrimack school newspaper has a story headlined From Dartmouth to Merrimack: Micah Green Builds His Next Chapter as a Warrior. From the story about the graduate student in Engineering Management who will play against his old school today (LINK):

“My goal is just to help the guys potentially get into a conference,” Green said. “We’re trying to win games. If we can win enough games, we’ll get into a conference and those kids can have a much better college experience.”

And . . .

Green encouraged his teammates to participate in the “Build a Bed for Every Child” where the Merrimack community builds 20 children’s bed frames as part of their Martin Luther King Jr. Day service event. When he felt the event needed more promotion, he took the initiative to encourage participation. “I stood up in front of the meeting and promoted it, and a lot of my teammates came,” Green said.

The local Valley News had conversations with Dartmouth wide receiver Ky'Dric Fisher and Sammy McCorkle in advance of today's game:

Last night . . .
Columbia 28, Penn 27
Freshman receiver Bryce Coleman’s third touchdown catch of the game capped a big comeback to give Columbia the lead with 6:41 to play, and it held up when Penn’s hurried 51-yard field goal attempt with no time left fell short.
Columbia quarterback Chase Goodwin was just 12-of-33 passing before going 5-for-6 for 55 yards on what would be the winning drive. Coleman’s nine-yard TD reception was his eighth of the season, a rookie record for the Lions (4-1, 1-1).
Penn (2-3, 0-2) had a final shot at pulling out the win on a drive that began at its own 19 with 52 seconds remaining, but Mason Walters, who kicked a 52-yard field goal in the first quarter, came up short on a 51-yard attempt after being rushed onto the field on the game’s final play when the Quakers might have instead stopped the block by downing the ball.
Goodwin finished 17-of-40 for 237 yards and two touchdowns for Columbia while Penn's Karson Siqueiros-Lasky had an eventful night, going 23-for-41 for 374 yards with four interceptions and two touchdowns. Delayed 90 minutes because of weather, the game drew just 1,860 to Franklin Field with the wild ending resulting in one site using this headline:

EXTRA POINT
I think with each series win the Milwaukee Brewers should earn an achievement badge, don't you? Think about it.
