Game Day In The Garden State

The Dartmouth-Princeton preview went up on BGA Overtime last night HERE. The game story will go up late tonight and I'll be writing a follow in the car tomorrow while Mrs. BGA is at the wheel.

The forecast for gametime in Princeton couldn't be much better for this time of year: 58 degrees and partly sunny.

#

In case you missed them, the full Dartmouth game notes are now available HERE. As far as I can tell, Princeton has posted only a preview story that I linked to yesterday HERE.

The Ivy League's official Saturday preview story can be found HERE.

Today's schedule around the rest of the league:

Brown at Yale, noon
Penn at Cornell, 1 p.m.
Columbia at Harvard, 1 p.m.

Previously reported changes to NCAA preseason football practice rules have now been approved. Of interest is that FCS schools will be able to conduct joint practices with other FCS schools. (LINK)

EXTRA POINT
Years ago there were Dartmouth team buses heading to Columbia, Princeton and Penn that would take Interstate 91 to I-95 and the George Washington Bridge. Others would go down I-91 to Hartford, hop on I-84 and eventually make their way across the Tappan Zee (a bridge name I miss). Me? I've always preferred heading down the New York Thruway to I-287, a more peaceful road with less congestion.

Yesterday we were on the Thruway and stopped at the New Baltimore (N.Y.) rest area where we spotted a few buses parked near the plaza. Mrs. BGA offhandedly said, "Wouldn't it be funny if those were Dartmouth's buses?" No way, I might have said. ;-)

It turns out she was right and the team had stopped to stretch, use the facilities and have box lunches at portable tables set up on the sidewalk alongside the parking lot.

I had to laugh seeing the surprised look on Sammy McCorkle's face when we walked over to say hi. When I asked him about taking the Thruway, his explanation rang true with me. Much less traffic.
