It's a long drive to Cornell. Did I tell you it's a long drive to Cornell? There were blinding flurries on I-88 near Oneonta that didn't make it any easier. ... I got out here and my favorite $37 a night (plus cost of disinfectant) motel about 25 miles away had closed, so I had to scramble. I found a place, but it cost a few dollars more. ;-(
Reports of snow were greatly exaggerated. Thick, thick frost on the windshield this morning but the skies are clear blue and there's only a possible flurry or two in the forecast.
Not much in the way of links this morning. The Daily D posted is preview after I left and you can find it here. ... The New York Times has a nice piece on Clifton Dawson with a seriously goofy (is that an oxymoron?) head shot of present-day Ed Marinaro. ...
Dartmouth grad Brad Ausmus '91 won his third gold glove as a catcher with the Houston Astros. The Houston Chronicle story is here. I've written about this before, but Ausmus was all set to play at Dartmouth until the Yankees did something smart; they used a late draft pick on him and offered him higher draft pick money. He signed, attended Dartmouth, worked out with the team during the offseason in Leverone and then went off to spring training. It's hard to argue with how things worked out for him.
