An Ivy League Coaches Poll?

“I don’t care to belong to any club that will have me as a member.”

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- I’ve been a voter in the Ivy League football and men’s and women’s basketball polls for 15 or more years and each time I cast my ballot the old Groucho Marx line comes to mind.

Despite a woeful track record, each summer the Ivy League office invites me to join in the football voting and each year I do the best that I can, just like folks who cover the seven other schools. Sometimes I’m pretty close. Sometimes, to quote the eminent philosopher Borak, not so much.

All of which got me to wondering during Monday’s Ivy League media day if the coaches could do any better. And would they want to? So I asked them how they felt about taking part in an anonymous poll. To find out what they thought, visit Green Alert premium.
