From an ESPN2 column:
I Say! Pip Pip! Cheerio! The Smart Schools Invade the NFL: There were what is likely a modern-era record number of Ivy League players on opening day NFL rosters.Pip Pip? Cheerio? Pardon me while I barf. As for whether that is likely a modern-era record, sorry, it's not. The Ivy football record book lists 17 NFL players in 2004.
The New York Times has a nice piece about Norries Wilson and the challenges associated with coaching and playing football at Columbia. Find it here. Wilson guided the Lions to a .500 overall record last year. I particularly like this quote of his from the Times story:
“Five and five is average. If we’re striving to be average, why strive at all?”... Speaking of Wilson, Columbia has an impressive video interview with the second-year coach here. It's well worth watching.
