The Daily Dartmouth Opinion staff asked a group of students: How essential do you think athletic success is to the College’s mission? For their answers, click here. What do you think?

Among those being honored as Dartmouth Wearers of the Green at the 2009 celebration in Boston on May 16 will be former football players Alan Rozycki '61, Wayne Young '72, James Vailas '78, Jon Aljancic '97, Derham Cato '05, Anthony Gargiulo '06, Joe Killefer '06 and Ian Wilson '08. Junior Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor – who had nine tackles in seven games at corner back last fall after returning from injury – ran a 6.96 in the 60-meter dash finals at the Indoor Heps track championship at Harvard to place third overall and qualify for next weekend's IC4A meet. ... Sophomore placekicker Don Kephart compete in the shot put.

Imagine Harvard and Yale getting to replay the 29-29 tie of 1968 to finally decide a winner. It's never going to happen, of course. But two other archrivals, a pair of Pennsylvania and New Jersey high school teams from opposite sides of the Delaware River, are going to finally decide a winner 15 years after the fact. From the story:
In eight weeks, varsity players from the 1993 Easton Area Red Rovers and Phillipsburg Stateliners will take the field in full pads once more for a full contact, four-quarter game, as part of an original program from Gatorade featured on missionG.com called REPLAY. What makes this game between one of the nation's most heated and contested high school football rivalries even more anticipated, is the fact these teams will be meeting after more than 15 years to replay their 1993 deadlocked 7-7 showdown.
Also from the story:
To physically prepare for the big game, the returning players reunited in a bonding weekend at their respective schools this past weekend. During this three-day session, athletes practiced with Easton and Phillipsburg coaches and athletic trainers, met with sports science experts representing The Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) to discuss hydration and nutrition needs, and received a supply of G2, the low-calorie sports drink from Gatorade. Moving forward, players will individually train in an eight-week regimen, followed by a pre-game practice the Friday and Saturday before the game scheduled for April 26.
Peyton and Eli Manning will be the honorary coaches of the game, to be played at Lafayette's Fisher Stadium according to the Easton Express.

And for those who might be wondering ... the forecast calls for about eight inches of snow in Hanover today.
