If the Name is Familiar ...

If you are a Dartmouth football fan who was watching TV recently and saw a name in the credits that you thought you recognized ... you did.

Former quarterback Ben Koldyke '91 was a member of the supporting cast on Dartmouth's 1990 Ivy League championship team, completing 5-of-11 passes for 47 yards. He's still in a supporting cast role, but not on the gridiron – on TV. Koldyke has recurring roles on How I Met Your Mother on CBS, and HBO's Big Love. He's also a writer, producer and director. Find his Internet Movie Database page (IMDb) here.

And speaking of backup quarterbacks from the 1990 Buddy Teevens' coached team that tied Cornell for the Ivy League title with a 6-1 record and finished 7-2-1 overall, Kevin Peck is back home in Colorado serving as a municipal court judge. (story) Peck, the winner of the Manners Makyth Man Award that fall, had the inside track on being the starter until being sidelined by mono prior to the opener against Penn. He ended up completing 4-of-10 passes for 31 yards.

In case you are wondering, it was Matt Brzica, the graduate of Minnesota's St. Thomas Academy who quarterbacked the Big Green to the title after beginning the season fourth on the depth chart. St. Thomas Academy, of course, is the alma mater of current Dartmouth teammates Timmy McManus and Foley Schmidt.

From today's Daily Dartmouth:
Pending discussions with the College and student groups, Hanover Police will delay the implementation of its alcohol law compliance check policy that Chief Nicholas Giaccone announced last week, Giaccone said in a press release Wednesday.

And finally, that certain Hanover High senior was presented with the Sportsmanship Award for the Hanover winter track team at last night's banquet. Although she's been all-state in track and softball, ran on the all-division, state-championship cross country team and has earned more than her share of honors on the way to 12 varsity letters, the Sportsmanship Award is the most special of them all. She's now won it five times in her various sports and hopefully she knows we couldn't be any prouder.
