Pidermann Set for Pro Day

During a tribute to Michael Jackson, a dancing, one-gloved Dartmouth President Jim Yong Kim joined freshman defensive end/linebacker Michael Tree (T-shirt) and other finalists in the Dartmouth Idol competition. This is a still taken from a video of the tribute. Watch the full video here.

Senior free safety Pete Pidermann of Hialeah, Fla., is heading over to Durham, N.H., today to take part in the UNH Pro Day. Pidermann has reached an agreement with Florida-based agent David Canter, who represents more than a dozen NFL players through his DEC Management, Inc., agency.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Pidermann was the winner of Dartmouth's Bob Blackman Trophy as the Big Green's Most Valuable Player last fall. The Dartmouth co-captain had 55 tackles, blocked two kicks (including one that saved the victory over Cornell at the end of regulation) and an interception on the goal line. Dartmouth's top hurdler for two years before turning his attention fulltime to football, Pidermann showed his speed when he returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown as a junior and again when he returned an interception 70 yards for a score as a soph. He finished his career with 166 tackles and was honored as a second-team All-Ivy League pick last fall.

Among others expected to show his stuff at UNH is New Hampshire tight end Scott Sicko, who was the subject of a Patriots Daily story that finishes with a mention of today's Pro Day.

There's another Pro Day scheduled for today at Brown with still another at Boston College tomorrow. (Pro Day schedule)

As expected, former Dartmouth assistant coach Dave Rackovan, most recently on the staff at Princeton, has been named head footballcoach at Central Bucks South High School in Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Inquirer has a story.
