First, The Sports Network picks for the week are out. They look like this:
and
- Holy Cross over Dartmouth
- Brown over Princeton
- Penn over Columbia
- Harvard over Lehigh
- Yale over Fordham
- Colgate over Cornell
- Georgetown over Bucknell

The Harvard Crimson predicts a 31-28 win for Holy Cross. From the column:The Crusaders’ defense seems suspect, and Dartmouth tailback Nick Schwieger is a serious threat on the ground. This one should be close, but my faith in the Big Green is gone.
*
The Holy Cross message board has a discussion about running back Nick Schwieger as well as some interesting stats on the Crusader run game.*
Harvard's WHRB Radio has a power ranking of the Ivy League teams and it looks like this:- Penn
- Brown
- Harvard
- Columbia
- Yale
- Dartmouth
- Cornell
- Princeton
Dartmouth is an upset-minded team ready to play with the big boys of the Ivy League, but consistency (of actually coming out with the win) will be the difference maker for the rest of the season.

The Yale Daily has a Q&A with Bulldog outside linebacker Jesse Reising, who will begin a commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps after graduation. Among other things, he is asked:- Should last week’s game against Dartmouth have been that close?
- One of the major threats you faced in the Dartmouth offense was their running back Nick Schweiger. You guys traditionally have a good running defense. What did you do to adjust to his game?

It's been a head turner for everyone I've talked to, but Yale kicker Philippe Panico won the Gold Helmet for outstanding performance in New England FCS football last week. Portal 31 blog has a mention.Green Alert Take: Although Panico had a 43-yarder and a PAT blocked, he banged the gamewinner off the right upright from 19 yards out as time expired, so good for him. But this week was the perfect opportunity to give the award to a defensive player and Yale doesn't win that game without two tremendous fourth-quarter plays by corner Chris Stanley. On the first, he won a jump ball in the front corner of the end zone and wrestled away what looked like a surefire touchdown pass to Michael Reilly, turning it instead into a touchback. Then, after Panico's 43-yard attempt was deflected, andDartmouth appeared to be driving for the winning field goal, Stanley alertly stripped the ball from a Big Green back near midfield with 1:06 left to end the threat and set up Panico's final kick.

An interesting find by a Daily Pennsylvanian writer calling for the Quakers to finally decide on a quarterback:Since 2008, the Quakers have won every game in which only one quarterback has played.

There's a story in the Doane (Nebraska) College newspaper about former Dartmouth offensive coordinator Roger Hughes, most recently the head coach at Princeton. This quote from Hughes says a lot about a good man:"One of the things that too many of us college grads focus on is the ‘what': what can I get, what can I own, what money can I demand. I've always tried to focus on the ‘who': who's team am I on, who can I help, who can I learn from. If everybody would focus on the who, the what comes later."
