Meet the Hit Man

Eric Wickham, a 6-foot-2, 239-pound inside linebacker from Savannah Christian, is featured in this 45-second clip about his commitment to Dartmouth. This story notes the 2009 Savannah Morning News defensive player of the year had 127 tackles and six sacks this fall. The piece begins this way:
They call him the "Hit Man" and it's not just for his exploits on the football field.

Savannah Christian's Eric Wickham is also known for hitting the books.

Kevin Macari, a Connecticut receiver with big numbers, had Dartmouth on his radar but has decided on Georgetown according to this story. He is a major "get" for the Hoyas according to the Connecticut bureau of the BGA.
*
Don Brown, the onetime Hartford (Vt.) High School assistant coach who gambled and left a fulltime teaching job to jump into college coaching as a part-timer at Dartmouth in 1982, survived the coaching purge at the University of Maryland this offseason only to jump to the University of Connecticut as defensive coordinator, the same role he held with the Terps. Brown is a former head coach at Northeastern, Plymouth State and UMass. He has been a highly regarded assistant at Yale and Brown.

The Baltimore Sun has a story and you can find his UConn bio here.

Kudos to Dartmouth men's ice hockey coach Bob Gaudet for posting his 200th win at his alma mater in style last night, a 3-0 victory over Brown. (link)

Off to the Dartmouth Classic at Leverone Field House this afternoon where That Certain Hanover High Grad will be running the 1000. That Certain Hanover High Junior, meanwhile, will be playing ice hockey on the sweet outdoor rink volunteers put down behind our village fire station (and just up the street from the Etna General Store which some of the 814 residents of Etna still stubbornly refer to as Dave's).
