Time In

Got a peek yesterday at a Dartmouth football schedule that has tentative start times for nine of the Big Green's 10 games next fall:
Sept. 17 Colgate 1:30
Sept. 24 at Sacred Heart 1
Oct. 1 Penn 1:30
Oct. 8 at Yale noon
Oct. 15 at Holy Cross TBA
Oct. 22 Columbia 1:30
Oct. 29 at Harvard noon
Nov. 5 Cornell 1:30
Nov. 12 at Brown 12:30
Nov. 19 Princeton 1:30
Listing the Princeton game at 1:30 likely means one of two things. Either the game will be moved up to 12:30 when the official schedule comes out ... or the new lights will be in place because a 1:30 kickoff on that day in this part of the world won't cut it.

Arthur Carey '45, who lettered for the Dartmouth football team in 1942 and 1946, is one of 10 individuals slated to be inducted into the Ipswich (Mass.) Athletic Hall of Fame. The Salem News writes of Carey:
Coach Arthur Carey, 1967-1981: Arthur has been called the "Grandfather of lacrosse" on the North Shore. He was a teacher, coach and Athletic Director at Ipswich High for 23 years. Art was a star running back and captain of the Marblehead football teams in the early 1940s and went on to play college football and lacrosse at Dartmouth College. After coming to Ipswich, Carey started one of the first lacrosse teams on the North Shore. He was also a long-time assistant football coach for the Tigers.

Joe Paterno using Skype to visit with recruits? Believe it. The Altoona Mirror has a story.

Watching the Boston Bruins skate around with Stanley Cup hoisted over their heads and knowing it is in for some pretty cool adventures over the next few months was another reminder that there isn't a trophy in sports that can compare to it. If you ask me, the only piece of hardware that comes close to being in the same conversation is the Claret Jug.
